In accordance with Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the data protection provisions of the Federation (Data Protection Act, DPA), every individual has the right to protection of their privacy and protection against misuse of their personal data. The operators of this site take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data in confidence, according to the statutory data protection regulations and in line with this data privacy policy.

Use of cookies

Use of Google AdWords
This website uses Google conversion tracking. If you access our website via an ad placed by Google, a cookie will be set on your computer by Google AdWords. The conversion tracking cookie is placed when a user clicks on an advertisement displayed by Google. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used to identify individuals. If the user visits certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can detect that the user has clicked on the advertisement and been forwarded to this page. Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be used to track AdWords customers via the website. The information obtained with the aid of the conversion cookie is used to draw up conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers can find out the total number of users who have clicked on their ad and been forwarded to a page provided with a conversion tracking tag. They cannot obtain any information allowing users to be identified in person, however.
If you do not wish to take part in Google Ads conversion tracking, you can block cookies from the domain “googleadservices.com” in your browser settings.
Use of Matomo Web Analytics
We use Matomo, an open-source web analytics software, to analyse the use of our website. Matomo is self-hosted and runs on our own infrastructure in Switzerland — your data does not leave our servers and is not shared with third parties. Matomo is operated in cookieless mode: no tracking cookies are set. Analysis is based on anonymised data; IP addresses are anonymised before storage (the last 2 bytes are removed), making personal identification impossible. Since no cookies are set, no consent is required. Data is collected on the basis of our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR to understand website usage and improve our offering. If you wish to opt out of tracking, you can do so via the Matomo opt-out page.
Use of Giscus for Blog Comments
Our blog uses Giscus, an open-source commenting service. The comment section is only loaded when you actively click “Comment & react”. Only then is a script loaded from giscus.app and your IP address and browser information are transmitted to the Giscus service. Your choice is saved in browser local storage so you do not have to click again on subsequent visits.
If you post a comment or reaction, you authenticate via GitHub (GitHub Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation). Your comment is stored as a GitHub Discussion in the public repository ninech/blog-comments. Please refer to GitHub’s Privacy Policy for details on how GitHub processes your data.
