Depending on the database, choose the location ColoZüri 4.2 (Zurich Altstetten) or NTT Zürich 1 (Rümlang).

PostgreSQL supports extensions such as vector and PostGIS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which database engines does Nine offer?
MySQL and PostgreSQL are available as a self-service On-Demand DBaaS (Economy and Business). We also offer a Redis-compatible Key-Value Store as an On-Demand service for caching, sessions and messaging. MariaDB can be run as a Managed Service on a Managed Server.
Economy or Business: what fits my needs?
The Economy tier gives you a single database in a logically isolated, shared environment: fast to spin up, ideal for development, testing and low-traffic applications. The Business tier gives you a dedicated instance with reserved resources and full user and database management, well suited for production environments.
Are backups created automatically?
In the Economy tier, daily backups are created and stored on our S3-compatible object storage. In the Business tier, backups are kept locally for up to 365 days. The storage required for backups may incur additional costs. Automatic backups can be disabled.
Does storage grow automatically?
Yes, for Business tier databases and the Key-Value Store, storage expands automatically and grows along with your data. It cannot be reduced afterwards. For Economy tier databases, storage is capped at 10 GB per database.
Can I use On-Demand databases and Key-Value Stores with other products like Deploio, Managed Kubernetes, Managed or Root Server?
Yes, On-Demand databases and Key-Value Stores can be used with any Nine product. Deploio automatically injects connection credentials as environment variables as soon as they're referenced from an application. On a Managed Server, you can run MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL directly on the server as a Managed Service.
I need a highly available database environment.
We build custom, tailored database environments on our Managed Servers (First tier). Our engineering team advises you based on your use case and works with you to define the target architecture. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
How is the Key-Value Store priced and scaled?
Our Key-Value Store starts at CHF 5.58 per month for an environment with 256 MB RAM. Storage scales automatically with the booked RAM size. Booked storage cannot be reduced afterwards.
